The awards are an annual event celebrating the achievements of organisations, businesses and individuals that have made significant contributions to the development and use of the Internet in Australia and New Zealand.

Originally based on the four main themes of the United Nations' Internet Governance Forum (IGF), this year’s awards has five categories, aiming to reach a broad range of stakeholders.

The awards are open for applications throughout May and June, 2013. Entries are assessed by a panel of independent experts and winners will be announced at a gala dinner in Wellington on 17 September 2013.

 

Criteria


Entries will be assessed on the following criteria:


•    The main benefits of the product, project or initiative to its stakeholders or the wider users of the Internet
•    The original objectives of the project and success in meeting these goals
•    The projects' objectives and measured success in meeting its goals
•    How the initiative, or its ideas, could assist with the development of the Internet in an International context


Why Enter?


ANZIA winners receive recognition as industry leaders, that have set new standards for making the Internet a more inclusive, accessible and safe place.
The awards offer greater public and industry exposure of your organisation and initiative, positive media coverage, networking opportunities and recognition of hard work for staff and volunteers.

Cash Prize


Eligible entrants in each category will be in the running for an $AUD2500 cash prize.  Individuals, academic and non-profit organisations are eligible to receive the $AUD2500 prize in each category. Companies and for-profit initiatives can donate their prize-money to a charitable cause of their choosing.


Previous Winners


A wide range of innovative and creative entries have been received for the ANZIAs covering a tremendous diverse range of projects including: the promotion of children's health, preservation of indigenous cultures, delivery of Government programs, and the provision of services for people living with a disability. Despite their different goals and areas of focus, all entrants have shared an inspirational commitment to harnessing the opportunities presented by the Internet to improve the lives of Australians and New Zealanders.  For more information on previous winners, go to the winners section.
